Gasification potential for industrial applications

In 2013, Enea carried out a study on the potential of gasification for industrial applications, especially in the Languedoc-Roussillon Region, on behalf of BioenergieSud network.

BioenergieSud promotes innovation in the field of bioenergy and gathers more than 100 organisations, including high-tech companies of all sizes, well-known research laboratories and innovation clusters of the Languedoc Roussillon Region.

The objectives of this study were to:

• Evaluate the degree of awareness and knowledge of industries on gasification technology, their current perception of it as well as the different opportunities and bottlenecks to its deployment
• Assess the potential gasification market in this Region through an analysis of local industrial stakeholders
• Better understand energy needs and associated expectations of several players within different industrial sectors, in order to develop relevant gasification solutions
